About Us

Welcome to Kensington Kids Early Learning Centre

Kensington Kids Early Learning Centre is a non-profit community based childcare centre. The centre has been an integral part of the Kensington community since 1983, providing educational childcare for children ages 0-6 years of age. Our programs are dedicated to creating the right balance of play-based learning and nurturing care for the children. Our educators facilitate growth and development in a diverse, multi-cultural environment, showcasing inclusivity in the ever-changing world around us.

We are located in Kensington Community School, jus east of College and Bathurst area of downtown Toronto. The centre is a non-profit corporation which is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of both parents and dedicated community members.

We serve full fee and subsidized families. The Centre is licensed by the Ministry of Education under the Child Care and Early Years Act. The centre also has a purchase of service agreement with the City of Toronto.

Kensington Kids is committed to the promotion of an inclusive childcare setting, providing a safe and positive environment for all our families and staff regardless of their ability/disability, race, religion, language, culture, or family structure.

Meet Our Educators

Our qualified educators have a considerable range of abilities, education, and experience in the childcare field. The staff all have a strong commitment to providing superior care for all the children in our childcare setting. All of our educators must have knowledge of the City of Toronto Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) standards, implementing and following these high expectations throughout the daily curriculum. Many of our staff members are bilingual, being an additional asset to communicating with our families where English may not be their first language.

We ensure that all of our educators have the following information on file

  • - All of our RECE must be registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators and maintain their membership in good standings
  • - Updated health form
  • - Current criminal reference check
  • - Current child and infant CPR & first aid certificate
  • - Review all of the centre policies and procedures
  • - WHMIS trained
  • - COVID-19 trained
  • - At all times two staff at the centre must have maintain a current Food Handlers Certificate
  • - Fully Vaccinated to COVID-19

Staff members are also encouraged to attend a variety of different learning opportunities and workshops to enhance their professional development, learning and growth for themselves as well for the children they care for at the centre.
